Lots of fun in the Winter time at Forest School. We can't think of a better place to be in the winter sunshine than in the woods.
We have been in such Festive spirits over the past month, creating some wonderful Christmas creations, exploring various sensory experiences and of course our Annual Thorne Manor Christmas Party which included a visit from the man himself, festive ponies and lots of celebrations.
The Calves have progressed from the theme of 'The Scarecrows Wedding' Story, which they incorporated Autumn, Harvest and Halloween in quite nicely, moving on to the topic of 'Vets'.
Lots of creative play like making magical fireworks, pumpkin messy play and lots of exploration outside to observe and discuss the change of seasons.
Our lambs group have been very busy this Autumn Term. They have been investigating the outdoor environment, creating pumpkin pictures and making poppies for Remembrance Day.
The lambs group love to explore textures and sensory equipment, forming special bonds with staff members and exploring in the caring and nurturing environment of the room.
The Piglets have been focusing on 'Autumn' as a theme which is now progressing into the story of the 'Gruffalo'.
We have been exploring the seasonal change with walks out, Autumn sensory trays and decorating pumpkins for Halloween.
They have especially enjoyed making 'firework Poppy' Pictures for Remembrance Day.
The children absolutely love to explore the natural learning environment around us.
At Thorne Manor we are very lucky to be situated on a working farm and surrounded by such beautiful landscape and learning opportunities.
From visiting cattle to jumping in muddy puddles - So much to discover and enjoy.
Forest School has re-launched this September with groups attending across three days of the week.
The children have been learning about keeping safe, exploring the woodland environment and learning new skills.
From learning leaf identification to creating artwork using natural resources, it certainly has been a month full of so many learning opportunities.
